Beverly Inches Closer To Recreational Cannabis Sales
Beverly signed host city agreements with two recreational cannabis dealers, but sales in the city are still likely a year away.
BEVERLY, MA — Mayor Mike Cahill signed host city agreements with Fresh Fields LLC and Greenhouse Naturals LLC, which plan to open recreational cannabis stores in Beverly. But Fresh Fields, which is planning a store for 350 Rantoul Street, and Greenhouse Naturals, which would be located at 13 Enon Street, still need approval from the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission. That process could take up to a year.
"We're confident in their ability to run their businesses safely and effectively," Cahill told the Salem News, which first reported this story. "Their security plans and business models and the way they're going to manage customer flow all are very strong. Those are things we looked carefully at during the process."
In April, Cahill predicted Beverly's first retail cannabis stores would open by the end of the year. Beverly eventually plans to grant licenses to a total of four retail marijuana stores.
