BEVERLY, MA — A box truck got stuck under a railroad bridge on Pleasant Street in Beverly. The crash delayed service on the MBTA's Newburyport commuter rail line and shut down Pleasant Street in Beverly, as well as an adjoining pedestrian walkway.

Keolis, which operates the commuter rail, said it was sending engineers to the 12-foot-high trestle to check for structural damage.

The MBTA said an outbound train on the Newburyport line was running 15-20 minutes behind schedule Friday morning after being held at the Salem station because of police activity at the Beverly depot station. The train, which departed North Station in Boston at 9:40 a.m., was cleared to proceed along its route around 10:30 a.m.
