Beverly Police Officer 'Made My Day' By Stopping To Talk
A video of a Beverly police officer stopping to talk with an African American couple has gone viral.
BEVERLY, MA —A Beverly police officer is being praised for sitting down to talk with an Afircan American couple and listen to their concerns.
According to CBS Boston, which first reported this story, the officer identified only as "Officer Bill," sat down with Jason Jones and his girlfriend while on patrol in Beverly. "I just want to say hi," Officer Bill says in a video that has been widely circulated on social media. "Obviously it sucks out there but, you know, I won’t let you down, and there’s a lot of us out there that are here for you."
"It actually made my day," Jones said. "As a person of color and a minority in society, to have reassurance that there are officers who care about us and have our well-being and best interest is very important for me to know."

Beverly Police Chief John LeLacheur reposted the video on his own Twitter page and said its how the department asks its officers to "act every day with every citizen."
