North Shore Rallies Around Beverly Teen As She Recovers From Gunshot Wound To Head
Darianna Ruiz, 15, has suffered a stroke and undergone seven surgeries since being shot by another teen in her Beverly home last month.

BEVERLY, MA — A GoFundMe set up to raise money for a 15-year-old Beverly girl who was shot in the head in her own home last month aims to raise money for the family of the victim as she recovers from more than a half dozen surgeries and a stroke in the wake of her injury.
Darianna Cruz, 15, was flown to an ICU after suffering a gunshot wound to the head in the early evening of Oct. 14 at the Simon Street home.
A 14-year-old boy was arraigned on multiple charges, including armed assault with intent to murder, in Salem Juvenile Court that week. He has not been identified because of his age.

The family of Cruz launched the GoFundMe to help the family as she recovers from the stroke, seven surgeries and other complications from her injuries.
A family member posted on the GoFundMe page that Cruz had stabilized and was showing signs of improvement as of Nov. 12.

As of Tuesday night, the GoFundMe had raised $9,000 toward a goal of raising $14,000 or more.
