Beverly, Wenham State Representative Special Election Dates Set

Three candidates have announced their bids to fill the seat vacated by Jerry Parisella after he was confirmed to the state court.

MASSACHUSETTS — An April special primary and May special election have been set to fill the 6th Essex State Representative seat that Jerry Parisella vacated when he was nominated and confirmed as an Associate Justice of the District Court.

The Secretary of State's Office posted April 15 as the primary day and May 13 as the special election date.

Perspective candidates will have one more month to submit nomination papers for the race with that deadline set for March 4 at 5 p.m.

The last day to register to vote in the primary is April 5 with the last day to request a mail-in ballot being on April 8.

The last day to register for the May 13 special election is May 3 with the last day to request a mail-in ballot being on May 6.

Beverly City Councilors Hannah Bowen and Todd Rotondo, along with Beverly Chamber of Commerce President Medley Long, have announced their candidacies for the opening.

All in-person voting for Beverly residents for both the April 15 primary and May 13 special election will be held at the Beverly High School fieldhouse.
