Developer, Beverly Councilor Spar Over Proposed Resolution
The CEO of Windover Construction says a resolution proposed by Beverly City Councilor Scott Houseman is "defamatory."
BEVERLY, MA — City Councilor Scott Houseman didn't name the "local business" in a resolution he put before Beverly City Council last week, which accused the business of manipulating state and federal grant programs designed to preserve historic properties. But it was clear his resolution was targeting Windover Construction, the big, Beverly-based developer, and its proposed, Depot Square II project. Windover CEO Lee Dellicker has responded by calling the resolution "disturbing and defamatory."
According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, Dellicker declined further comment but said he was considering his options to respond to Houseman's resolution. Windover received $2 million in tax credits to preserve historic buildings, but is now planning to raze them to make way for the six-story, Depot Station II.
