'Civil War Quilts: Stories of the Battlefield and Home Front' with Pam Weeks, Curator, New England Quilt Museum

'Civil War Quilts: Stories of the Battlefield and Home Front' with Pam Weeks, Curator, New England Quilt Museum

It’s estimated that over 250,000 quilts were made for soldiers’ aid during the Civil War. Yet, we currently know of only 15 Northern soldiers’ quilts that have survived. These quilts tell stories about soldiers, their mothers, their sweethearts, and their wives.* On this 150th anniversary of the Battle of Antietam, come learn about the creation of these fascinating Civil War quilts, including a basic history of the war, the founding of the U. S. Sanitary Commission, and women's response to the war.

'Monday Mornings' is a free lecture series for seniors that runs between September and May. No registration required; handicapped accessible. Coffee, tea, and light refreshments served. For more information contact Robin Flynn (program director) at 978-921-6062.
