Lynn Pair Sentenced For 'Stuffing a Person Full Of Drugs'
A man and a woman convicted of trying to smuggle drugs into the Middleton House of Corrections were sentenced today.

LYNN, MA – Two Lynn residents were sentenced today after their involvement in placing drugs and contraband inside a prisoner, with the intention of selling to other inmates at the Middleton House of Corrections.
Justice Gonzalez, 25, and Kyrikoula "Carol" Iliopoulas, 28 were sentenced on Wednesday to three to five years and two and a half years, respectively, in Salem Superior Court. Darrell Wheeler, 27, was convicted of being in on the plan, and will be sentenced next week.
According to a statement from the District Attorney's office, the trio planned to smuggle heroin, marijuana, prescription medications, and other contraband into the Middleton House of Corrections when Gonzalez was in pre-trial custody. Essex Assistant District Attorney Kim Gillespie introduced phone calls made from the jail to Iliopoulas and Wheeler in which they planned to post bail for an inmate, put drugs in him, and sent him back to jail.

In April 2014, Iliopoulos posted $300 bail for an inmate and brought him to a location in Lynn where they put drugs and contraband "into his body cavity." Then she brought him back to Haverhill District Court.
The inmate asked to be housed with Gonzalez, which corrections officers found suspicious. They later found the drugs and contraband inside him. The District Attorney's office praised the work of the corrections officers, especially Deputy David Earle.
