Man Nabbed with $700 Worth of Cocaine at North Beverly Conservation Area

A man was arrested with several hundred dollars worth of cocaine near the entrance to a Beverly conservation area, according to police.

An alleged drug dealer from South Boston was arrested at a conservation area popular with hikers and dog walkers in North Beverly on Friday morning.

Beverly police said the arrest happened at about 10:40 a.m. when Officer Tom Nolan was monitoring traffic on Cabot Street (Route 97) near the entrance to the J.C. Phillips Preserve, near the Wenham town line. In addition to traffic patrol, Nolan was patrolling the area because the area has recently had car break-ins and there has been drug activity.

Nolan spotted a man known to him, Henry Delos Santos, 46, and approached his vehicle. Inside, he saw an illegal knife on the center console and Delos Santos allegedly trying to secrete something, believed to be drugs.
