Here's what's happening around the North Shore through the lens of the local police logs.

  • On Monday, March 6, a hookah melted the tupperware bin it was sitting on and set off the fire alarm on Hilltop Drive around 7:30 p.m. There was no damage to the residence.
  • Officers received a call about suspicious activity on Sunday afternoon, and found that a woman had left the Anchor Pub without telling her boyfriend.
  • A group was advised to lower the volume of their video game playing for the evening after police were called to Pond Street on Monday around midnight for a noise complaint.

  • Officers received a report of kids riding go karts in the roadway on Harbor View Lane last Wednesday afternoon.
  • Police responded to Chestnut Street on Sunday morning on a report of an unknown man staying in a guest bedroom. The man later couldn't find his jacket and keys.

  • Police received a report of a phone or pole that fell in the parking lot of a gas station on Newbury Street on Wednesday, March 8, around 9:30 a.m. Officers found that a payphone had rusted out and fallen over.
  • A car was stopped on Lowell Street on Monday morning after a person reported a gray car with the word "help" written on the back window. The driver was unaware of the message.

SALEM

  • Police put a man in protective custody last Wednesday after he almost fell into the front pond of the hospital on Highland Avenue around 5 p.m.
  • A dog named Hooch was reunited with the pup's owner, after police apprehended the dog on Ocean Avenue on Monday around 5:30 p.m.
