Open Burning Permits Available Starting Jan. 7

2013 open burning season runs from Jan. 15-May 1 in Beverly.

The Beverly Fire Department Bureau of Fire Prevention has announced they will begin issuing open burning permits starting today, Jan. 7.

The 2013 open burning season will run from Tuesday, Jan. 15 through Wednesday, May 1.

A valid permit obtained from the Beverly Fire Department is required to burn. Applications are available at the Central Fire Station on 15 Hale St. in the Prevention Office on the second floor, between the hours of 7 a.m to 5 p.m, Monday through Thursday.

Residents will be issued a numbered permit and an Open Burning Facts Sheet upon receipt of the $10.00 fee.  

Checks/money orders should be made payable to the City of Beverly. No Cash will be accepted. (A fee of $25.00 will be charged for any returned check)

Required Daily Activation of Your Permit: Each day you wish to burn, you must activate your permit by calling the Central Fire Station dispatch at 978-922-2424 between the hours of 9:30am and 1pm the day you wish to burn.  The department asks that residents have their permit number available when calling.

The Fire Chief or his designee reserves the rights to deny open burning on any day due to: Complaints, Location, Weather or Environmental Conditions.

Open Burning in the Commonwealth is regulated by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and enforced by the local Fire Department.
