Beverly Homicide Suspect Had Prior Gun Conviction

In 1993, Bruce Gunn, 64, of Beverly, was sentenced on a federal gun charge under the Armed Career Criminal Act.

BEVERLY, MA — The 64-year-old man arrested Wednesday in connection with the March 13 homicide of Donald Fogg in Beverly has a lengthy criminal record and was classified an armed career criminal under federal sentencing guidelines.

Police executed a search warrant and arrested Bruce Gunn, 64, of Beverly, at his Cabot Street apartment around 5 a.m. Wednesday. Gunn was scheduled to be arraigned in Salem District Court Wednesday morning

Fogg, 50, was found dead from a gunshot wound around 6 p.m. March 13 in his apartment on Summer Street. Fogg was a chef, most recently at Absolutely Fabulous in Melrose.

Gunn's criminal record dates back to 1979. In February 1993, Gunn was convicted in federal court of knowingly possessing a firearm after having been convicted of a felony. He was sentenced to 235 months in prison, which was an enhanced sentence under the Armed Career Criminal Act, according to court documents.

On Feb. 28, 1991, Gunn was charged with selling cocaine in Andover and possessing a .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol in Beverly.
