Quincy Man Charged In Beverly Rest Stop Shooting Monday Night

The 26-year-old is charged with armed assault with intent to murder in connect to shots fired at another car on Monday night at about 11:30.

BEVERLY, MA — A Quincy man is facing armed assault with intent to murder and several gun charges in connection to a shooting at a Beverly rest stop on Route 128 on Monday night.

The Essex County District Attorney's Office said Thomas Drequan Perkins, 26,was arraigned in Salem District Court on Thursday on charges related to the shooting reported at the northbound rest stop at about 11:30 that night.

Perkins is facing charges that include the attempted murder charge, assault with a deadly weapon and carry a gun without a license.

Perkins pleaded not guilty to all charges and was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.

Beverly police and State Police responded to the report of an altercation in the parking lot of the rest stop that the Essex DA's Office said escalated after Perkins and another man returned to their vehicles, then Perkins followed the victim onto the highway and fired the gun at the other person's car.

Hon. Lisa Core ordered that Perkins have no contact with the occupants of the other vehicle involved in the incident.

Perkins is scheduled to appear back in court on Dec. 18.
