Sandy Hook Vigils Planned for Saturday, Sunday in Beverly
Vigils for Newtown Connecticut shooting victims to be held in Beverly this weekend.

Vigils have been planned through the weekend in Beverly, in response to the Newtown, CT shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, which left 27, including 20 children, dead.
On Saturday, Dec. 15, a vigil is planned at the corner of Hale and Cabot Street in downtown, between the First Baptist Church and First Parish Unitarian Church. The evening is being hosted to "light candles, remember the dead, wounded and bereaved from Newtown and demand meaningful gun control laws," according to Leighton O'Connor's Facebook post.
On Sunday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. the Episcopal churches of Beverly, and , invite residents to a service of readings and prayers in memory of the children who died. The service will take place at St. Peter's Church, at 4 Ocean St.
On Friday night, community members joined at Beverly Common for a moment of silence.
