Scammers Impersonating Beverly Police Officers, Demanding Bill Payments

Beverly police are warning residents about phone calls from scammers impersonating Beverly police, using actual officer names.

A scammer is making calls to Beverly residents, impersonating Beverly police officers by name and demanding payment for unpaid bills.

Beverly Police said in an announcement Tuesday that it is investigating the scam in which the caller uses the actual name of a Beverly police officer and says they are calling about unpaid bills and then demands a payment.

“It is believed the calls are being generated using a computer, as the caller ID shows an actual police department number,” police said in an alert to residents.
