Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued, Winds up to 60 mph

Beverly is under a severe thunderstorm warning until 6 p.m.on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

The warning was prompted because a storm capable of producing damaging winds over 60 miles per hour was headed east from North Andover at 35 mph.

A separate severe storm behind the first one was near Dracut and Methuen, also headed east at 35 mph.

Severe thunderstorms produce damaging wind and destructive hail, the weather service said. Drivers should avoid flooded roads and expect poor visibility.
