$10,000 Cash Found Hidden Inside Slow Cooker At Logan Airport

TSA agents say the woman was attempting to take the slow cooker as a carry-on before it was flagged.

TSA officials will always notify authorities when it comes to a large amount of cash found, especially if it "brings attention," Dan Velez said.

BOSTON — The Transportation Security Administration discovered about $10,000 hidden inside a slow cooker at Boston's Logan International Airport Thursday morning.

"Not sure why the passenger decided to hide money in a slow cooker, but Massachusetts State Police eventually cleared the passenger and the money," Dan Velez, a spokesperson for the TSA said on Twitter.

The woman was trying to bring the slow cooker on as a carry-on, Velez told MassLive, after sharing a photo of the slow cooker on Twitter.

Velez told MassLive that TSA officials will always notify authorities when it comes to a large amount of cash found, especially if it "brings attention," he said, adding that there is no specific dollar amount to be stopped.

The woman, who was traveling to LaGuardia, missed her flight due to how long it took officials to clear the situation but the flight was rebooked, Velez told MassLive.

Earlier this week, Massachusetts State Police were called into Logan Airport after an American Airlines employee reportedly stabbed a coworker. Kenric Smith, of Leominster, was then arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, police said.

The TSA did not immediately release any other information on the incident.
