13-Year-Old Facing Gun Charges After BPD Found Him Driving A Car
A 13-year-old boy will be facing gun and motor vehicle charges after Boston police found him behind the wheel on Columbia Road on July 4.

BOSTON — A 13-year-old boy from Boston is facing firearm and motor vehicle charges after he was arrested behind the wheel Monday night.
Around 11:34 p.m on the night of the fourth of July holiday, officers on patrol near 144 Columbia Road noticed the registration information did not match the vehicle on the road and conducted a traffic stop to investigate further.
Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens to make the driver stop, but the operator refused and continued to drive away slowly. Police say they were eventually able to get the car to stop and found a 13-year-old boy driving.

Officers say they removed the boy from the car and found a firearm fell from his leg to the ground while they were patting him down.
The firearm was determined to be a .380 Ruger loaded with one round in the chamber and five rounds in the magazine.

The 13-year-old is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester Juvenile Court on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, operation of a motor vehicle without a license, attached registration plates, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and refusal to stop for a police officer.
