$1B Boston Children's Expansion Approved

And with it, the demolition of Prouty Garden.

BOSTON, MA — Boston Children’s Hospital received state officials' approval for a planned, $1 billion expansion Thursday, despite ongoing protests from the "Friends of Prouty Garden" group.

The expansion includes a new NICU and larger Heart Center, but would entail the destruction of the garden.

As part of the agreement, the new plan would add four gardens and relocate some of the plants and other elements from Prouty Garden elsewhere on campus, according to WHDH 7News.
