3 Alarm Fire Rips Through Building Near Franklin Park

It's unclear what started the fire.

BOSTON — A three-alarm fire ripped through a building on the edge of Franklin Park in Dorchester early Friday morning, according to fire officials. No one was injured.

Commissioner Joseph Finn told reporters fire was visible when crews arrived. Heavy smoke prompted added requests for help. Finn said there were no residents living in the three-story brick building, which is home to a handful of local businesses, including Fernandez Brothers Grocery and D'Lalys Beauty Salon.

Officials estimated damages at 500,000.
