4 Alarm Fire In Boston Damages Buildings, Displaces 12
A dozen residents were displaced and two firefighters were taken to hospitals with minor injuries, according to the Boston Fire Department.
BOSTON – Firefighters have put out the flames of a large fire that damaged two multi-family homes in Dorchester early Saturday morning, displacing a dozen people.
Two firefighters had to go to the hospital for minor injuries, according to fire officials.
Flames broke out around 7:45 a.m. on Nightingale Street, when firefighters arrived they saw smoke coming from the back of 16 Nightingale St., and called in more help with a second alarm.

Moments after, when the fire chief got there, he called a third alarm and more help, as the fire spread to a home next door. Shortly after that the back porches collapsed, and a power line came down behind the house, and the chief struck a fourth alarm, indicating the fire's severity.

Within the hour the crews were able to put out the heavy flames, and began working to cool down "hot spots," according to the department.

"Great job by the 1st arriving officers and command staff," a department spokesperson posted to Twitter. "Their quick decisions helped to contain the fire. They had multiple obstacles to deal with heavy fire, porches collapsed, multiple occupants and live wires on the fences."
