5 Former Boston Celtics Charged In Fraud Scheme: Feds
Federal prosecutors said one ex-Celtic was the ringleader that resulted in 19 former NBA players being indicted.
Five former Boston Celtics were arrested and charged in what federal prosecutors are calling a health insurance fraud scheme, NBC reported Thursday morning.
Ex-Celtic Terrence Williams is accused of being the ringleader of the scheme to defraud the NBA’s Health and Welfare Benefit Plan out of about $4 million. Tony Allen, Glen "Big Baby" Davis, Sebastian Telfair, Milt Palacio and Darius Miles are among the 19 former players charged with a count of conspiracy to commit health care and wire fraud.
Williams played with the Celtics in the 2012-13 season, his last in the league.

The most accomplished of all the players is probably Allen, who played with Boston from 2004-2010, including the 2008 NBA championship team. Allen was a six-time All-Defensive player who made at least $40 million in his 14-year career, according to Spotrac.
Davis played with the Celtics from 2007-2011 and was also part of the title team. Telfair, a 10-year NBA veteran, played with the Celtics in the 2006-07 season. Palacio played with the Celtics from 2000-01.
