Andover Elementary Schools To Follow New Math Curriculum
Students in grades K-5 will have a new math curriculum starting this fall.
ANDOVER, MA — The Andover School Committee voted to adopt a new elementary math curriculum this fall, the Andover Townsman reported.
The new curriculum, Eureka Math Squared, was proposed at the committee's June 16 meeting. Four Andover Public Schools educators presented the program: Assistant Superintendent Dr. Julie Riley; Katherine Richard, head of the APS math program; and two math coaches, Principals Brenda Lee and Jason DiCarlo.
Eureka Math Squared focuses on advancing equity in the classroom through the way children learn mathematical concepts, according to the presentation. Fully aligned with state standards, the curriculum emphasizes students' understanding of concepts, strategies and procedures.
