GREATER BOSTON — If you live in Greater Boston or Providence then round two has passed by. The thunder that woke everyone up earlier this morning shook the area again as scattered strong to severe thunderstorms developed across southern New England. But it's not over watch for more this afternoon and into the evening.
The severe thunderstorm that moved into the Providence metro area just after 3:30 p.m. brought hail and strong to damaging winds ripped through the area accompanied by flooding and power outages. Then it danced through Boston.
At Logan Airport, planes were grounded when the weather formed a mircroburst.

If you woke up a little earlier than planned this morning and were able to go back to bed, good for you. Not everyone could. Folks in Greater Boston took to social media in droves sharing that just after 7 a.m. they awoke to massive claps of thunder, shaking beds and setting off car alarms as lightening lit up the early morning sky Saturday.
It also turned off the lights in more than 4,000 homes and businesses (and traffic lights) across Greater Boston. That was Part One of today's storm.

The National Weather Service has declared a Hazardous Weather Outlook for today and tonight in all of Massachusetts east of Berkshire County and Rhode Island.

The greatest risk of heavy rain and damaging wind is expected to be near and south of the Massachusetts Turnpike, but there is the potential across the entire region. Heavy rainfall may produce localized street and poor drainage flooding.
With the storms, the forecasters are predicting heavy wind gusts and possibly hail. Batten down the hatches and make sure you're all charged up.
