BOSTON — Gov. Charlie Baker didn't cast a vote for President Donald Trump or former Vice President Joe Biden in Tuesday's presidential election.

"I blanked it," Baker said at a news conference Tuesday.

Baker, a Republican, has repeatedly said he could not support Trump. It was the second straight presidential election in which Baker said he did not cast a vote for either major-party candidate; in 2016 he said he did not vote for Trump or Hillary Clinton.

The moderate Republican has criticized Trump for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic and for not committing to a peaceful transfer of power should he lose the election, among other things. Trump has also criticized Baker, most recently by calling him a "Republican In Name Only."

Biden is reportedly considering Baker for a cabinet post if the Democratic presidential nominee wins Tuesday's election. Biden's team has been looking into the backgrounds of some Republicans as they put together shortlists of candidates for high-profile positions.

Baker, however, said last month he was not interested in a job in a potential Biden administration.

"Lieutenant governor and I said when we ran for re-election two years ago we were going to serve our terms, and I intend to do that," Baker said on Oct. 20. "And you're going to be stuck with me for at least the next two years, anyway. I'm flattered to be considered, but I like the job I have."
