BOSTON, MA — More than half of the MBTA Blue Line’s route will be replaced by shuttle buses this week in order for the authority to make track repairs.

The buses are replacing service between the Airport and Wonderland stops through Sunday, August 17. According to the MBTA, commutes are expected to take up to 30 minutes longer when using buses compared to trains.

In addition to track repairs, the closure will also allow for work to be conducted at the six affected stations, such as lighting improvements, painting, and cleaning.

Through a partnership with BlueBikes, one of the Boston area’s most well-known bicycle-sharing programs, community members can receive five free rides by using the code “MBTABLUE825” on the program’s application.
