BOSTON, MA — Bluebikes, one of the Boston area’s most well-known bicycle-sharing programs, announced that it is offering $15 worth of credits to riders funded by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts between Wednesday, April 16 and Tuesday, April 22. The initiative aims to inspire and facilitate environmentally friendly transportation methods during Earth Week.

The credit can be redeemed by entering the phrase “BLUECROSSMAEARTH” in the rewards section of the Bluebikes application. In addition to the complementary rides, BCBS will also donate $1 per ride to the Environmental League of Massachusetts.

Bluebikes Boston was founded in 2011 and was originally known as Hubway. Users can purchase rides and unlock bikes at stations using the phone application. A 30-minute Bluebikes ride cost $2.95, with an additional 25 cent charge for each minute used beyond the half-hour timeframe.
Bluebikes are present in 13 municipalities throughout Greater Boston.
