Boston Activists To Rally If Election Results In Dispute
It's one of dozens of "Protect the Results" events planned across the state and nation on Nov. 4.

BOSTON, MA — Activists in Boston will hold a rally on Wednesday if the presidential election results appear to be in jeopardy, one of dozens of "Protect the Results" events planned across the state and nation on Nov. 4.
Patch has reached out to the organization for comment. The organizer of the Framingham event has more than 100 people signed up to attend. The area rallies are tentative and would happen only if "Trump takes action to undermine the results" of the election, according to the event website.
Similar events will happen in Worcester, Watertown and in Melrose, Milton and the South Shore.

Democratic-leaning groups are worried that President Donald Trump may try to claim victory in the election before all votes are counted, or try to diminish results that show Joe Biden leading.
On Sunday, Axios media reported that Trump will declare himself the winner on Tuesday if he's ahead. But the presidential election may not be decided for days or longer due to higher numbers of absentee ballots cast amid the coronavirus pandemic.

If necessary, the Boston rally will begin at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday on the Boston Common. Anyone interested can register to attend on the Protect the Results website.
Meanwhile, at 6 pm on Nov. 4 groups like the Freedom Fighters Coalition, Sunrise Boston, Boston Socialist Alternative, are planning to march starting at Nubian Square in an effort "to defend our democracy and their communities the day after election day" no matter the results. Organizer Jeanette Gronemeyer, of the Sunrise Movement Boston expects thousands to show up.
The Sunrise Movement is a youth-led movement with the aim of putting a spotlight on climate change, fighting to end climate change and create jobs in the process.
"We must end state violence, fight for indigenous sovereignty, environmental, racial, immigration, and economic justice, cultivate accountability in our own relationships, protect a fair election, and BE HEARD BY OUR LEADERS," reads a news release.
