Boston Cancels St. Patrick's Day Parade Amid Coronavirus Fears
The move is being made "out of an abundance of caution," Mayor Marty Walsh said.

BOSTON — The City of Boston has cancelled the South Boston St. Patrick's Day Parade amid fears of the fast-spreading coronavirus. Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said the decision was made "out of an abundance of caution."
"While the risk in Boston remains low, this situation is changing very quickly and we are closely monitoring any local cases," Walsh said in a statement. "Our top priority is preventing any new cases, to the best of our ability, and we are paying close attention to guidance from public health officials."
As of Monday afternoon there were 41 positive tests of coronavirus in Massachusetts, including one case confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control. The outbreak is causing city, state and federal officials to postpone or cancel large public gatherings.
