Boston, MA — Local author and composer Safak Serez has filed a U.S. Copyright registration for a new bilingual project, “SONGBOOK: Lyrics & Simple Notation,” and begun the process to join ASCAP as a composer.

Serez says the collection blends lyric poetry with simple melodic notation, inviting collaborations with Boston musicians, educators, and cultural spaces.

The work was officially submitted to the U.S. Copyright Office on September 30, 2025, and Serez plans to share selections in upcoming community events and workshops this fall. “My vision is to build bridges between poetry and music,” Serez said. “Boston has such a vibrant cultural scene, and I’d love to collaborate with local performers.”
