These Are The Roads Closed For The 2025 Boston Marathon

BOSTON, MA — The Boston Marathon is rounding the corner of arrival for its 129th year. As the city prepares for its staple celebration, it will close many roads so the main event of Patriots Day can take place.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the following closures will be in place on Monday, April 21:

• The Beacon Street bridge over Route 16 and I-90
• The northbound and southbound off-ramps of exit 37 on I-95
• Route 9 westbound off-ramp to Route 16 in Wellesley
• I-90 eastbound exit 133 to Copley, with a detour through I-90 eastbound exit 134A.
• I-495 northbound/southbound exit 50 (Route 85) off ramps
• I-495 northbound/southbound exit 54A (West Main Street) off ramps
• The on-ramp from West Main Street in Hopkinton to I-495 southbound

Newton police announced the following road closures between the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. on April 21 as well:

• Washington St: Wellesley Line to Auburn St
• Commonwealth Avenue: Auburn St to the Boston Line
• Commonwealth Avenue Carriage Lane: Washington St to the Boston Line
• All Feeder Streets Along Race Route: Within 60 feet of the marathon route
• Beacon Street: Washington St to Dorset Rd
• Beacon Street Extension (North of Washington St)
• Centre Street: Homer St to Ward St
• College Road: Beacon St to Commonwealth Ave
• Concord Street: Hagar to Washington St
• Evelyn Road: 192 Evelyn Rd to Fuller St
• Grove Street: Washington to Moulton St
• Hammond Street: Ward to Hammondswood Rd
• Helene Road/ Cotter Road: Paulson to Fuller
• Homer Street: Commonwealth Ave to Centre St
• Old Colony Road: Priscilla to Commonwealth Ave
• Quinobequin Road: I 95 Southbound ramp to Washington St
• Woodland Road: Cheswick Rd to Washington St

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu announced that the following roads will have a “no stopping” restriction for vehicles on April 21:
