Boston Police Shoot, Kill Dog During Arrest In Mattapan

BOSTON, MA — Boston police shot two dogs during an arrest at a Mattapan home Wednesday, leaving one of the animals dead.

Police went to a home at 28 Michigan Ave. Wednesday to arrest a person "known to have multiple arrest warrants," police said in a news release.

After taking the person into custody, two dogs in the home approached and bit an officer. Another officer opened fire and hit both dogs.

"The officer who was bitten and the officer who discharged their firearm were both transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. One of the dogs is deceased and the other dog was injured," police said in a news release.

Boston police did not immediately say what type of warrants the person living in the home had.
