Boston Ranked 4th Highest Slacker City On Valentine's Day: Study
When it comes to buying Valentine's Day gifts, Massachusetts residents are some of the top ten worst procrastinators in the country.
BOSTON — Waiting until the last minute seems to be a common trend around the Bay State, as Massachusetts and Boston are ranked at the top for biggest Valentine's Day procrastinators.
Two out of every three Americans say they plan to celebrate Valentine's Day, but 50% wait until the last minute to buy their significant other a gift, according to a report by Google Trends.
Massachusetts ranks 8th for waiting until the last minute to plan something special for Valentine's Day, but it turns out New Jersey proved to have the most Google searches for "last-minute Valentine's Day gift ideas."

Maryland, Rhode Island, New York, and Virginia follow New Jersey for the top five, beating out Connecticut in 6th and Idaho in 7th.
When it comes to buying last-minute gifts in the big cities, Boston takes the 4th spot in procrastination. Denver residents love to wait for the last second, as they ranked number one, followed by Baltimore and Las Vegas.

Although they say money can't buy love, men plan to spend an average of $76 on their Valentine's Day gifts this year while women spend around $60. The overall average budget? $67.58.
But not necessarily all of that money will go to partners, as 69% of those surveyed said they're buying gifts for their significant other while 15% say they plan to get their mother a gift and 10% will be buying for their friend.
