The 3-8 Red Sox, off a grueling West Coast swing to start 2019, return to Fenway Park to face the Toronto Blue Jays.

BOSTON — Baseball returns to Boston Tuesday. The Red Sox, straight off their ninth World Series victory in 2018, play their home opener this week. The team faces the Toronto Blue Jays Tuesday, April 9, at 2:05 p.m. The Red Sox will receive their World Series rings during a 1 p.m. ceremony.

The winless Chris Sale will take the mound for the Red Sox against Matt Shoemaker, who's 2-0 with 15 strikeouts on the season. Both teams started off the 2019 season poorly and sit at 3-8, good for the bottom of the American League East. The Tampa Bay Rays top the division at 7-3 followed by the the 5-4 New York Yankees.

  • Start time: 2:05 p.m.
  • Fenway Park gates open: 11:35 a.m.
  • World Series ceremony: 1 p.m.–players will receive rings and unfurl the 2018 World Series banner.
  • TV: The game will be televised on NESN and in out-of-market areas on ESPN
  • Radio: The game can be heard on WEEI 93.7 FM, 103.7 FM and 1490 AM.
  • Streaming: The game will be streamed on mlb.tv for subscribers.

If you're going to the game, dress warm, bring a rain jacket and maybe an umbrella. It will be cold and wet, with temperatures in the low 40s. Some drizzle is possible at 2 p.m. and steady rain is expected from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
