Climbing Toward 100 Degrees: MA Weather Forecast

Oh, and also some severe storms possible.

BOSTON, MA — Temperatures in Massachusetts are not only climbing toward 100 degrees Friday, they're gearing up for a three-day streak above 90 degrees.

And it's not just the heat. The National Weather Service is monitoring possible scattered showers and thunderstorms late in the day and in the evening:

In the Boston area and the North Shore, temperatures are going to max out in the mid-90s, but it'll "feel like" about 100, according to the NWS. Temps will be a few ticks lower out near Worcester and the South Shore.

In the later evening, NWS warns of possibly damaging winds, some small hail and possibly heavy rain (although the chances are low). A "weak tornado" is also possible, according to NWS, though unlikely.

The humidity has given way to some freak downpours and lightning throughout the state this week. The possibility remains as we enter what should be one of the hottest weekends of the year.
