A Reddit thread is blowing up with delicious nostalgia, as Bostonians chronicle the lost restaurants they miss the most.
The thread is wonderful not just for its send-up of the many locations now gone to the big restaurant in the sky, but for the memories shared about them. We've included a few highlights below and would love to see your comments. Better yet, jump on the Reddit thread to add your own ideas and savor the memories (... if not the food).
The Other Side Cafe
The Other Side Cafe was ousted in spring of 2012 when Room and Board moved into its location on the corner of Newbury Street and Mass Ave. in Back Bay. Writes Reddit user, rmull, "It was funky, cheap, and laid back, a great beer-and-a-sandwich type place."

Tantric India Bistro
This is a recent loss. The Theater District go-to for Indian food closed this spring after 12 years. "Walked by one day," writes pantan. "It was gutted and so was I."
Johnny D's
It might still be too soon for folks in Somerville to talk about this one. The bar/music venue/"blues brunch" spot by Davis Square shuttered in March after nearly 50 years. "Already mourning the loss," says blushingscarlet.

Deli Haus
You can't talk about bygone Boston restaurants without lamenting the loss of Deli Haus. The beloved Kenmore Square greasy spoon closed in 2002, taking its cheap (ridiculously cheap) breakfast foods and Guinness floats along with it. A few gems shared on Reddit:
"So many hungover brunches." - Barkingpanther
"Nothing like a plate of liver and onions at 3am while death metal is blasting." - punkmucker
"Deli-Haus had bathrooms w/ character." - Dodge_Swinga
"That is a generous description." - Barkingpanther
Estelle's Southern Cuisine
Estelle's closed in 2015, initially replaced by Cluckit and now awaiting another reincarnation on the South End. Gone but not forgotten, as Reddit user toaster800 attests, "I miss estelles burger so much!"
And on it goes...
