MBTA Running Shuttles After Commuter Rail Derailment
Outbound riders along the Framingham-Worcester line were seeing long delays during the Thursday evening commute.

BOSTON, MA — An inbound MBTA commuter train experienced a "low speed upright derailment" Thursday afternoon, causing a very difficult commute for train riders along the Framingham-Worcester line.
The derailment happened around 4 p.m. near the Lansdowne station in Boston. The incident was causing long backups for outbound commuters headed to Worcester and MetroWest towns, however.
The MBTA was replacing train service between South Station, Back Bay, and Newtonville with shuttle buses. Trains were running as usual to Worcester after Newtonville. The MBTA also added an extra train to Worcester departing Newtonville at 6:40 p.m.
