And the Country's Most Popular Governor is...

... Massachusetts' own Charlie Baker. Would you have guessed it?

Boston, MA - There's something to be said for compromise.

A recent Morning Consult rundown of governor favorability ratings found Massachusetts' Charlie Baker is the best-liked state leader in the U.S., followed by a short list of fellow Republicans also leading blue states.

According to Morning Consult, a whopping 72 percent of Bay State voters look favorably on the governor, who's moderate policies and pragmatic approach stand out even more starkly in the midst of a divisive election year.

The least-liked governor on the list is Kansas' Sam Brownback, a fellow Republican whose right-leaning state is rebelling against the Brownback administration's fraught economic policies. Also low on the list is Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy a Democrat whose state, as Morning Consult points out, has lost jobs to Massachusetts -- most notably, GE's recent decision to shift its headquarters to Boston.

So, yes, it appears to be a matter of a political leader finding middle ground. That, and, "it's the economy, stupid."
