DA Releases Video of Fatal Police Shooting in Everett
Video and attorney's description recount death of Mario Mejia Martinez, who allegedly threatened officer with a knife.

The Middlesex District Attorney's office has released video and images from a controversial police shooting earlier this year in Everett, which resulted in the death of Mario Mejia Martinez.
According to the district attorney's account at the time, police responded to reports of a man harassing pedestrians in front of 432 Chelsea Street, near the corner of Chelsea and Broadway. Martinez, 48, approached officers and allegedly drew a knife, moving toward them and ignoring multiple commands to drop the weapon, witnesses told the DA.

An officer, who remained unidentified in the DA's report Monday, shot Martinez, who was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, the DA's office said. A vigil was held for Martinez in the days following the killing.
