Donald Trump Donates to Local Veterans Charity
After a press conference spent slinging mud at the media, Republicans' presumptive nominee named recipients of controversial fundraising.
It's not a pretty way to raise money, but for New England's Wounded Veterans Inc., it is needed and appreciated funding nonetheless.
The veterans group, which annually organizes Boston's Wounded Vet Run, received $75,000 from Donald Trump's controversial fundraising effort. The presumptive Republican presidential nominee named the charity on a list of veterans groups he said Tuesday he has donated $5.6 million to in total.
That move follows intense media scrutiny over discrepancies around the dollar amount raised by Trump's campaign and whether or not some of the charitable groups had, indeed, received those funds. Trump put a formal number on how much he'd raised and named numerous charities Tuesday, while ripping into the media for questioning his inconsistencies.

The conversation around the funding is pitched and political -- and for good reason. But that doesn't diminish its impact on the organizations receiving checks.
“I pretty much screamed my head off for ten minutes,” New England Wounded Vets founder Andy Biggio told Boston's WBZ News.

Boston's Wounded Vet Run posted a photo of Trump's letter, dated May 24, on Facebook Friday, and a thank you.
"Our mission is to improve the quality of life for wounded veterans, locally and nation wide. We do this by housing modifications, recreational needs, transportation, and finance. Being a one hundred percent volunteer organization, we are taken back that a man running for President has recognized our efforts. Thank you Donald J. Trump for your $75,000 donation! This money is going exactly where it is needed."
