Downpours, Thunder To End Hot Start To Fall
Here's when rain is expected to cool off what could be a 90-degree day in some parts of the state.
An unseasonably warm first day of autumn will give way to rain Monday, ranging from showers to downpours, with some potential for thunder. Temperatures are expected to reach nearly 90 degrees across Massachusetts before the overnight precipitation.
The National Weather Service said "hopefully some locations receive a good soaking. Rumbles of thunder & heavy downpours are possible." There has not been much rain of late as the summer finished up.
The simulated radar below shows showers later this evening followed by a more significant downpour after midnight.

There are no weather warnings for the rain, but a hazardous weather outlook is in effect for southeastern Massachusetts for the risk of high rip currents. That's because of increased activity due to tropical storms southeast of the U.S.
