Hillary Clinton is set to receive a long-coveted endorsement, as Reuters reports late Wednesday that U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-MA, finally plans to give her the nod of approval.
After months spent distant from her party's frontrunner, Warren has been circling ever closer to Clinton's camp over the past few weeks - pushed toward her, in some ways, by an ongoing feud with likely Republican candidate Donald Trump. Warren's neutrality is particularly notable because she is the only female Senate Democrat who has not endorsed Clinton.
Warren is a darling of the progressive movement adored by far-left liberals of the Bernie Sanders variety - just the wing of Democratic support Clinton's campaign needs. The endorsement comes only after Clinton formally clinched a pledged delegate majority in Tuesday night's final Super Tuesday series, giving Warren ample cover should Sanders' base cry foul.

Much like mathematics and pressure from party bigwigs, Warren's endorsement is unlikely to shake Sanders' decision to remain in the race. However, it could give the Clinton campaign a booster shot of progressive credentials.
A side effect may be continued optimism from those calling for Warren to serve as Clinton's vice president. As we've previously reported, that option is looking somewhat less impossible than before, but it still seems unlikely.
