Watch: Elizabeth Warren Endorses Hillary Clinton On MSNBC

"Let me be clear: Hillary Clinton won."

Hours after Hillary Clinton received President Barack Obama's endorsement Thursday, an arguably even more talked-about announcement happened live on MSNBC's "Rachel Maddow Show."

U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren endorsed Clinton in an exclusive interview Thursday night after months of neutrality.

The Massachusetts Democrat cast it as a matter of "us versus them," of uniting as Democrats to take on Donald Trump and the rest of the Republicans.

Warren was the only female Democrat in the Senate not to have endorsed Clinton. She waited until months after the Massachusetts primary, and made her move only after Clinton had sewn up the pledged delegate wins needed to clinch Dems' presidential nomination.

In the face of a mathematical loss and despite a meeting with Obama Thursday, Clinton's Democratic challenger Bernie Sanders has clung fast to his place in the race. Warren, a firebrand liberal who appeals to Sanders' anti-Wall Street wing of the party, put her foot down in the interview Thursday.

"I want to get this on the table, and get it on the table early: Hillary Clinton won," Warren said in her interview with Maddow. "And she won because she's a fighter, because she's out there -- she's tough. And I think this is what we need."
