Emerson Sophomore Dying After Post-Party 'Scuffle'
Daniel Hollis, an Emerson lacrosse player, will not regain consciousness after hitting his head on cement in an altercation, his family said

BOSTON — An Emerson College student is unlikely to survive after suffering injuries in what his family described as a "scuffle" at a party Saturday. Daniel Hollis, a sophomore lacrosse player, was struck and banged on his head on cement in a confrontation between his friends and another group of young men, his family said on a website updating his condition.
Hollis suffered a blood clot on his brain and was placed in a medically-induced coma after surgery. His family said "Dan's journey is coming to an end."
"This morning we met with Dan’s medical team and the latest scans show extensive and unrepairable damage to large sections of his brain," the website reads. "Due to the damage to his brain stem, he will not regain consciousness."

His family said his body would not be able to sustain life even on life support.
"We ask that you focus on the positive: his infectious smile, his goofy sense of humor, his love for music, hockey, lacrosse and most importantly his love for his friends and family," the website said.
