Feeding Families Foundation Brings Free Meals to Parents at Boston Children’s Hospital with $100K Pledge
Connecticut-based nonprofit expands Parent Plate Program to help parents at Boston Children's Hospital stay nourished at the bedside.

On Friday, November 14th, Feeding Families Foundation, a nonprofit founded in Connecticut, announced a $100,000 pledge to expand Boston Children’s Hospital’s efforts to provide free, nutritious meals to parents and caregivers of critically ill children. While the hospital already offers some meal support for families, this funding will broaden the program’s reach, allowing the Foundation’s Parent Plate Program to provide more bedside meals and ease barriers for caregivers during long inpatient stays.
The Parent Plate Program targets a hidden form of hunger: ensuring caregivers have reliable meals while staying at their child’s bedside. Many families face long hospital stays and logistical challenges, making even basic meals difficult to access. The Program removes these barriers, allowing caregivers to remain nourished and focused on their child.
“We started Feeding Families Foundation to make sure no parent sits hungry beside their hospitalized child,” said Jeff Dorman, co-founder and chair. “With this expansion into Massachusetts, our commitment to ending hospital food insecurity continues to grow. We’re grateful to have the support of Massey’s Plate Glass & Aluminum and proud to support the incredible families and staff at Boston Children’s.”

The initiative is made possible through the generosity of Massey’s Plate Glass & Aluminum, Inc., a commercial glass and glazing company with long-standing ties to the Boston region. “Families facing medical crises deserve support, dignity, and compassion,” said Robert Massey, Jr., President & CEO. “We’re proud to stand with Feeding Families Foundation as they expand this vital program to Boston.”
The Program was inspired when the founders’ daughter received leukemia treatment, highlighting the often-overlooked challenge of caregiver hunger. Meals are delivered with no application or income requirement, complementing the hospital’s existing services.

Aaron Grey, Vice President of Social Work & Family Services at Boston Children’s, called the expansion “a meaningful gift” that will help hundreds of families each year. “Our social work team is dedicated to removing barriers for parents so they can focus on what matters most—their child,” Grey said.
Feeding Families Foundation has already provided thousands of meals in several states, including Connecticut, Oregon, and Illinois, and aims to expand its impact nationwide, one family at a time.
