Firefighter Injured in Fast-Moving Dorchester Blaze

A faulty circuit was found to be the cause.

BOSTON, MA — A Boston firefighter was injured Sunday night after a faulty circuit sparked a damaging fire in Dorchester.

The Boston Fire Department put the initial damage estimate at $350,000 to the 31 Harlem St. home.

After calling in four alarms, the flames were knocked down. It started just before 1 p.m.

According to Boston Fire, the blaze began with a spark from a faulty circuit on the first floor of the two and a-half story house.

Two families lost their home, Boston Fire said, but none of the residents were injured.

The hurt firefighter was taken to the hospital for what Boston Fire said was a minor burn to the leg.
