Get Ready to Dance! Sonidos de la Gente Returns to East Boston!

This festival celebrates East Boston's vibrant Latin American communities through music, dance, food, and family fun.

Hey everyone! Get ready to mark your calendars because something truly special is coming back to East Boston, and you won absolutely do not want to miss it! I'm so thrilled to share the news that the Latin Music & Dance Festival – Sonidos de la Gente is returning on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the beautiful East Boston Memorial Park!

This isn't just any festival, folks. This is an annual, vibrant explosion of culture that celebrates the heart, soul, and incredible diversity of East Boston’s Latin American communities. Think infectious music, dazzling dance, mouth-watering food, and FREE family-friendly fun for everyone! From 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the park will be transformed into a joyful, powerful experience of Latin culture that will have you tapping your feet and smiling from ear to ear.

As Senator Lydia Edwards herself said, "It is a true honor to celebrate the rich, diverse Latin American cultures that help make our city so special. On September 12th, we invite families, neighbors, and friends to come together for a day of music, dance, food, and community—free and open to all!" And I couldn't agree more! This is what community is all about!

What Can You Expect? Oh, So Much!

Prepare for a non-stop fiesta with incredible performances on two stages! You'll be treated to a stunning array of musical acts and dynamic dance performances. We're talking everything from traditional folkloric and graceful ballet to fiery tango, energetic hip hop, mesmerizing Peruvian rhythms, and soulful Brazilian bolero. Seriously, there's something for every beat of your heart!

Get ready to groove to local live music from fantastic groups like Grupo Gozarsa, La Rockola, Grupo Chevere, Manuela Sanchez Goubert, ZUMIX’s very own Latin Ensemble ¿Porque Puma?, Leo Lopez, and Ezequiel SM. And the dancers? Get ready to be captivated by Salsa y Control (Salsa), the vibrant Bajucol folkloric dancers, the stunning Pumawari Peruvian ensemble, and the incredibly talented youth dancers from the Veronica Robles Cultural Center. It's going to be a feast for your eyes and ears!

Oh, and let's not forget the food! Many of East Boston's celebrated local restaurants will be offering free tastings! Imagine savoring delicious bites from Bono, La Hacienda, Los Alebrijes, Boba Tea, Popsicools, Brasil Brazil, Chocolaffee, and so many more. Come hungry, because your taste buds are in for a treat!

Sonidos de la Gente was created to uplift and embrace East Boston's incredible Latino community, recognizing the vital and beautiful contributions they make to our neighborhood every single day. This festival is a true testament to shared efforts and vision, brought to life by Senator Lydia Edwards, the City of Boston, ZUMIX, VROCC, CK Communications Group, and countless dedicated local leaders and volunteers.

And here's an extra tip: Sonidos de la Gente is partnering with the Embrace Massó ¡Con Salsa! International Music Festival, a fantastic community celebration of Afro-Latinx culture through music, dance, and storytelling! That's happening on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Boston Common from 12-7pm. So, you can make it a full weekend of incredible culture and good vibes!

How to Get There

East Boston Memorial Park is super easy to get to, located at 143 Porter Street, Boston, MA 02128. It's right next to the MBTA Airport Station on the Blue Line and the beautiful Mary Ellen Welch Greenway. They're even encouraging everyone to use public transportation, including the MBTA East Boston ferry, which is a lovely way to arrive!
