Haymarket Station Closed As Government Center Garage Demolished

The demolition of the Government Center Garage is underway - closing the Haymarket MBTA Station in the meantime.

BOSTON — The Haymarket MBTA Station is closed Monday due to the demolition of the Government Center Garage in Boston.

MBTA commuters are encouraged to use North Station for Green and Orange Line train service.

For customers who need assistance, an accessible van will be available and can be accessed on Haverhill Street near North Station and on Congress Street between Hanover and Sudbury Street by Haymarket Station.

The garage is being demolished so a new residential tower at 50 New Sudbury Street can exist. With a $209,000,000 construction cost, the HHYM Investment Group LLC expects to complete the demolition of the Government Center Garage by the end of 2022.
