'Heartless' Robbers Beat Up Witness At MBTA Station: Police

Transit police are searching for 2 men who they say robbed a homeless man inside the Downtown Crossing Station, then assaulted the witness.

BOSTON — Transit police are searching for two "heartless" men who they say robbed a sleeping homeless person, then beat up the person who saw them at an MBTA station Sunday night.

According to a police report, two men stole from a sleeping homeless individual at the MBTA's Downtown Crossing concourse around 11:30 p.m.

When a concerned citizen saw what happened, they requested the two to stop and leave the person alone, transit police said.

The duo responded by violently attacking the witness, punching and kicking him in his head and body.

Police say the victim was transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment.

Boston police are asking anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigations Unit at 617-222-1050 or send us an anonymous text to 873873.

There has been no update on the extent of the witness' injuries.
