Here's What It Could Look Like When Malls Reopen In MA
Simon Malls are beginning to reopen around the country. How they plan to operate could be a hint at the foreseeable future of shopping.

Simon Property Group, the largest mall operator in Massachusetts and the U.S., is beginning to reopen malls across the country. While none of the 14 malls in the Massachusetts are in Simon's timeline, a look at how they plan to reopen 49 malls in other states offers a glimpse at how shopping may look moving forward.
An internal memo first obtained by CNBC and since reported elsewhere shows Simon planning to open malls between May 1-4 in states where stay-at-home advisories have been expiring, such as Georgia and Texas.
Gov. Charlie Baker recently extended a stay-at-home advisory to May 18, so Simon won't be opening here for at least a couple more weeks.

In the malls that are opening elsewhere, food courts will be takeout-only, entrances will be limited to make sure the customer count remains under control at any given time and temperature-taking will be offered via infrared thermometers.
Employees will be required to wear masks, but customers will only be encouraged to.
